Events

The Annapolis Quilt Guild offers its members special events throughout the year.  These events include Sit n Sews during the summer months, a fabric Frenzy bus trip (usually in March), a quilt show in June followed by an end-of-year picnic, and also a holiday party in December.  Please see below for more information.  The "Programs" page is where you will find out about monthly speakers and workshops.

FABRIC FRENZY Bus Trip: March 23, 2024

Prepare yourself for a day trip to Lancaster area quilt shops! Save the date Saturday, March 23rd. We will leave from Annapolis park n ride (200 Harrry S Truman Pkwy) at 7am, and travel in a super comfy coach bus to some popular shops, including Burkholder’s, Weaver’s, and Old Coun-try Store! Please pack a lunch or plan to eat at the Kitchen Kettle village area. Once we’ve hopped enough shops, we’ll watch a movie on the way home. We should arrive back to Annapolis park n ride around 6:30-7pm. Cost for the trip will be $60 per person, with a minimum of 35 people on the trip. If we can get more than 40 people, we can lower the per person cost. Deposits are non-refundable, although you can try to fill your seat with another traveler to recoup your money. We do need a minimum travel group of 35 to make the trip, so gather your buddies and let’s have a fun time!

During the summer months, the Guild hosts informal sew-ins at the regular St. Philips location and time.

QUILTS BY THE BAY QUILT SHOW: June 21 - 22, 2024

Click on the menu above marked "Quilt Show" for all of the information regarding the quilt show.

Picnic at Sandy Point State Park: June TBD

An end-of-the year party at an outdoor pavilion closes out our calendar year and celebrates the success of the quilt show and the officers who have served on the board.

December Event - details to come

Some events we have at our fun December celebration:

• Collection of donated children’s quilts (15 and under) that will be distributed by the Anne Arundel
County Department of Social Services. AA County serves 2,000 families during the holiday season so
the need is great. Our goal this year is to have (at least) 100 quilts. The quilts should be about 40-45
inches wide and 60-65 inches long. Fleece blankets are welcome as well.
• Fat quarter exchange: Like last year, bring 4 fat quarters in a brown paper bag for a fat quarter exchange
• Tree block lottery: Bring any tree blocks you have made and receive a raffle ticket for each block
entered. We will have a drawing for the blocks towards the end of meeting. The templates and
instructions for the tree block are available on the members only portion of the AQG website.
• Ugly sweater contest. Don your finest ugly holiday sweater and join a parade at the beginning of the
meeting. Sign up and receive a number to display on your sweater for voting purposes. Voting will be
throughout the evening and a prize will be awarded to the winner at the end of evening.
• Slideshow presentation by our historian, Hilke Hoefer, on 40 years of the Annapolis Quilt Guild.
• Show & Tell

We will serve light refreshments and drinks. Feel free to bring homemade desserts or
snacks to add to the table.
